Landesbank is a universal bank and an international commercial bank. 4. Landesbank is also the central bank of savings banks in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and the Free State of Saxony; together with the joint ventures of the savings banks, it promotes and supports the competitiveness of savings banks in the market. 5. In the territory of the state capital Stuttgart, the Landesbank also fulfils the tasks of a savings bank in accordance with Section 6 (1) of the Savings Banks Act. 6. The Landesbank is also the house bank of the land and the city. 7. The Landesbank may establish legally independent institutions governed by public law, participate in companies and join associations as members. It may also participate in the capital of credit institutions under public law and may be guarantors or institutions of such institutions. 8. The Landesbank has established a legally independent institution under public law called "Baden-Württembergische Bank" (BW Bank). For Baden-Württemberg, BW Bank takes over the business areas of the private and corporate banking business of Landesbank and the former Baden-Württembergische Bank AG with a special focus on the SME business as an operationally independent entity within the Landesbank. In doing so, it also fulfils the tasks of a savings bank assigned to the Landesbank in accordance with paragraph 5 in the territory of the state capital Stuttgart for the Landesbank. Within the scope of the tasks assigned to it, BW Bank acts as a commercial bank and can conduct all types of banking and financial services business. All declarations and legal transactions for BW Bank entitle and oblige the Landesbank. The tasks and organisation of BW Bank are governed by the Statute of BW Bank, which was adopted by the Sponsoring Assembly on July 6, 2005. Amendments to the Articles of Association are adopted by the Annual General Meeting as Articles of Association pursuant to Section 8 (2) No. 5 LBWG.
