The company was founded in 2011 as Biz-Q UG by entrepreneur and mathematician Frank Felix Debatin. In the summer of 2016, Karweg Ventures und die Kölmel Management Group invested in the company that was renamed North Data GmbH and entered into a strategic partnership with Echobot Media Technologies GmbH. The company has its headquarters in Hamburg, Germany.
