Ultra High Temperature Nickel Powder Alloy
| Abstract | Rolls-Royce is developing a new high temperature nickel alloy to be used in future engines targeted at narrowbody and widebody aircraft. These novel engine designs will ensure that Rolls-Royce maintains its long term competitiveness in the future. One of the key aspects of the new engine architectures being studied is the development of an engine core that is required to operate at higher speeds and temperatures to achieve the efficiency required, while still delivering an acceptable service life. This new alloy will offer a step up in temperature capability over existing alloys. Alongside the development of the alloy, suitable coatings are being developed to further enhance component capabilities. |
