Be a non-profit research institute that will conduct research and innovation related to the ocean space with the purpose of helping to strengthen the industries' competitiveness and stimulate the development of industrial activities and business activities in general. The company will offer world-class knowledge, technology and laboratories for the development of offshore, maritime and biomarine industries. The company will cooperate with industrial customers, knowledge environments and authorities, nationally and internationally. The company is part of the SINTEF Group, and the company's activities shall be coordinated with related activities within the rest of the Group and in accordance with the Group's overall objectives and strategy. The company shall cooperate with NTNU in support of the teaching and research that is naturally related to the company's activities. The company shall also strive to maintain close contact with industry organisations in the business sector within its area of activity. The company shall be run according to sound economic principles in order to create a basis that ensures a secure existence, and enables it to maintain and further develop a high professional/scientific competence and technical standard. The purpose of the company shall not be acquisition. The company shall not distribute dividends, acquire its own shares, carry out capital reductions with distributions to shareholders or otherwise make distributions to shareholders. Any profit generated through the business shall only be used for the realisation of the company's purpose.
