The association is an independent, non-profit organization with the purpose of promoting, developing and managing technologies and applications in the field of open source software in the field of blockchain and distributed ledger technology, as well as other related technologies and applications to enable decentralized and open new technology structures. A special focus is on strengthening and supporting the IOTA ecosystem and its associated technologies and applications. The association's activities include the support of the IOTA Foundation, the promotion of the IOTA Tangle network, the establishment and further development of the assembly protocol based on the IOTA Mainnet as well as the support of the Shimmer network. The association's activities also include in particular software development, community and ecosystem development, international representation, training, acquisition, maintenance and support in the field of cryptography-based decentralized software protocols and architectures. The Association may carry out all activities in Switzerland and abroad and take all measures that are necessary and suitable for the fulfilment of its purpose or that are directly or indirectly related to the purpose. To promote the purpose of the association, the association may acquire, hold, license and sell intellectual property rights or industrial property, as well as issue tokens. The association may grant loans, grants, subsidies or other forms of financing or collateral (against payment or free of charge) to direct or indirect subsidiaries or third parties. The association does not aim for a profit. Should profits nevertheless be made, these will be used for investments in the association's goals. The funds of the association may only be used for the statutory purposes. The distribution of the association's assets among the members is excluded.
